Page speed is the amount of time it takes for a page to fully load and appear on your screen. There are a few things that can afffect your website’s page speed such as quantity and type of content, your connection type, and what operating system and browser you’re using.
Considering the page speed is important when building a website because it influences the way someone uses your site. If a page takes too long to load, they may leave your site to find information elsewhere.
There are a handful of things you can do to optimise your page speed. These include, but are not limited to:
- selecting images that are an appropriate size (see our article on resizing images here)
- removing dead code and CSS.
There are many page speed tools that you can use to test the speed at which your webpages load.
